Bangladesh

Rice is not only the largest crop in Bangladesh, but it’s also a staple food across the country. The biggest rice harvest season is in April-May, and most of the work is still done by hand. Indeed, watching the process brings many of Jesus’ parables to mind, such as the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:3-9), the wheat and the weeds (Matthew 13:24-30), and the mystery of growth (Mark 4:26-29). Perhaps the most well-known harvest-related statement of Jesus is found in Matthew 9:37-38 (ESV): “Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'” Please take time today to pray that the rice harvest in Bangladesh will mirror a great harvest of souls in the kingdom of God this season. Ask that many workers will come out of the harvest and join the labor force so that His kingdom will expand even more. May Jesus’ name become great and lifted up in Bangladesh and throughout South Asia!
