Basotho of Lesotho and South Africa

(BAH-soo-too) – A Great Commission Christian partnering couple working in Lesotho requests prayer for a boy named Tumelo. “Two years ago, he was taken away from his grandmother, by his uncle, to work as a shepherd. We have been advocating for his return through law enforcement and mediations with the family. It is illegal for children to be forced to work as shepherds and excluded from school. This week, he finally was returned home. He was not compensated for his work. The police agreed that he cannot return to the uncle’s home. During this time, he suffered greatly. Please pray that Jesus will heal his heart and wounds. Before he was taken, he showed great curiosity about the gospel and things of God. Pray that he will come to know the love of Jesus. In Lesotho, 70% of children are excluded from education; most of them are boys. Pray for law enforcement to protect children’s rights so that each child has a chance to be a child. We are so thankful for Tumelo’s return and know that this is evidence of God’s intervention on his behalf! ‘Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy’ (Psalm 82:3 KJV).”
