(bohj-POOR-ee) – For many in ministry, mental health is something that’s not spoken of openly or received well. Some in the Christian community attribute depression, anxiety, and fear to a lack of faith, while others consider it a consequence of sin. However, in Scripture, countless faithful believers can be seen who struggled with these mental health issues. There are men and women who worried, feared, or were discouraged and in distress internally. In some instances, God allowed these seasons of difficulty in order to strengthen the believer or to teach him/her something. Such seasons are difficult to endure no matter what the reason. Often, as the leader of a church, an individual feels unable to share these difficulties with others. However, God has provided the body of believers to support and uplift one another in times of weakness. Please remember those in South Asia and around the world who are serving the Lord in full-time ministry. Whether they be pastors, pastors’ wives, elders, or other faithful leaders, they carry heavy burdens that sometimes feel difficult to share. Please intercede on their behalf to the Father. Ask Him to lighten their burdens and make their yokes easy as they draw near to Him (Matthew 11:29-30).
