City of Sand, Northern Africa

Ramadan begins the last day of February, and in preparation, stores begin to sell the “fanous,” a traditional lantern and decoration for that Islamic holy month. These beautifully designed lamps hang from public buildings and in private homes. Some are lit with white lights that shine best in the darkness of night. Muslims try to please Allah by their good works and fasting during the month of Ramadan. Pray for the Light of the world to shine into the darkness where many reject the gospel. Ask the Holy Spirit to work in hearts so that traditions are questioned. Pray that seekers will encounter the gospel and understand that they can be accepted through faith in Jesus, who makes them righteous–not their good works.
