If the pastor of Gethsemane Baptist had been told that in four years, he would have over 20 men in weekly Sunday Bible study, he might have been skeptical. For many years, the men would join worship at 6:15 a.m. and then go home or sit around and chit-chat for an hour while their wives and children attended Sunday School class. When a Baptist representative observed the situation, he suggested that one of the assistant pastors could have a time of sharing God’s Word while the men could enjoy the delicious local tubruk coffee. “It’s a great blessing to see the men’s group start up again,” remarked Pastor Tim. “The head of men’s ministry is joining the Sunday Bible study now. I expect there to be growth there too. Praise the Lord.” The Word of God is powerful to change lives when it is read, studied, and internalized. Pray that the men will grow as mature disciples so they can make new disciples. Pray that personal revival and the desire to learn God’s Word will lead to multiplying groups.
