Hyat grew up in a small coastal city known for its pottery and married her neighbors’ son. Once they got married, she and her husband moved to the big city to find work for him. They had some children and now live in a family member’s house. Hyat’s father travels from the small city to the big city to sell the pottery that he buys. Unfortunately, Hyat’s husband lost his job, and now they’re surviving only on small, odd jobs that he can find. Hyat has heard the gospel many times and even acknowledges that Jesus is God and that He died on the cross, but she is still a committed Muslim. She prays five times a day, fasts during the Islamic month of Ramadan, and teaches her children about Islam any chance that she gets. Pray for Hyat to realize that Jesus is the Light of the world. Pray that she will tire of striving to be a good person in order to get to heaven and come to understand that Jesus paid for all her sins on the cross. Pray that Hyat will want to follow Him.
