(KON-ah-kree) – Conakry, Guinea, is a megacity with roughly 2.5 million people. The majority religion is Islam (90% of the population is Muslim), and each year, these Muslims will spend a month fasting during what is called Ramadan. This year, based on the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is estimated to begin on February 28 and last 30 days, ending on March 29. Guineans will join Muslims around the world, fasting from all food and drink during daylight hours, and then breaking the fast after sundown each day. It is a month of fasting, prayer, giving, and self-evaluation. Would you pray that those in Guinea who are seeking to know God will find true salvation in Jesus Christ? Would you pray that Christians will be bold and stand firm in their faith, as they might experience persecution when they aren’t fasting alongside their Muslim friends and family?
