Dakar, Senegal

(dah-KAR) – A worker recently attended a Baptist church service in Senegal in which five young men and one young woman were baptized. Each one gave a testimony of their salvation prior to being baptized. Many of them were brought up in the church and spoke of the influence that their Sunday School classes and teachers had on them. They said that these were key elements in leading them to faith. Now, at the Baptist Center in Dakar, there is a Kid’s Club ministry. The next session kicks off in January. They need more workers. They also need your prayers! In Senegal, written permission from parents to allow a child to participate is required, and “turning a child” from their religion is illegal. Pray for God’s protection of this program and the workers. Pray that the children will begin to have an understanding of the gospel and that their parents will not remove them from the program or cause any problems. “But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven'” (Matthew 19:14 ESV).
