“When Jesus said that He is the Light of the world,” a worker writes, “I never understood the significance of that saying until working with the Deaf. They need light to ‘hear.’ How can they understand the gospel without first having the light of Christ to help them see? There are many Deaf who are living in the darkest darkness. There are thousands who in villages across the world who do not even have a language. This prohibits them from accessing the gospel in any way. Most do not live near a Deaf school or have the funds needed to attend one. Please ask God to provide ways for the Deaf to learn sign language, and ask Him to raise up workers who will share the gospel with them. Pray that God will stir up the hearts of Deaf believers in cities so they will be willing to leave the comfort of the cities and go to the deepest villages. Pray for the light of Christ to reach the darkest corners of the world so the Deaf will be able to see and understand Jesus.”
