(deh-KAH-nee) – It’s been about a month since Muslims all over the Deccan celebrated the Islamic month of Ramadan, fasting in the day and feasting in the evenings, with festive foods and a general joyous occasion, together with family and neighbors. Among other things, Ramadan, for them, commemorates the time when Allah revealed the Quran to their prophet. They’ve now gone back to their normal rhythms of activity of family and community life. Oh, that they would celebrate the coming of the One who is the Word of God who came to be their substitute, dying in their place so that they may have peace with God through the shedding of His blood! Many in the Deccan turn a deaf ear to anything hinting of something associated with being “Christian.” Pray that God will open their eyes to see “the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:4 ESV), bringing a great multitude to salvation.
