More than 40,000 people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo were infected with mpox last year. Of those 40,000, more than 26,000 were children, who are four times more likely to die from this virus than are adults. Malnourished children in areas with poor sanitation and limited healthcare, lacking access to testing and vaccines, are at an even greater risk of contracting the virus. Pray for followers of Jesus to recognize ways that they can share the gospel in both word and deed as they minister to overworked healthcare providers, help grieving families, and educate skeptical Congolese about the realities of viruses and vaccines.
