Durban, South Africa

(DER-bun) – Sadly, in South Africa the effects of apartheid continue to be a source of contention between the various people groups. The people of this “rainbow nation” do not get along as well as they would have you think. One of the areas where this has proven to be true is in the churches. Because the African tribes were repressed by the “Church” and so-called Christians, it is very hard for Africans to accept the “white man’s religion and their Jesus.” Pray that the obstacles and mistrust that were put in place by apartheid will be broken down so that all might come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. May they realize that to God, there is no racial discrimination, no class discrimination, and no discrimination based on being male or female. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28 ESV).
