(DER-bun) – “Since the beginning of the year,” writes the Durban Urban Evangelism Team, “vigilante groups have been roaming the streets of our city with batons, threatening, chasing, and beating any refugee who leaves their apartment to try to make a living or shop for food. They call it a ‘clean up’ of the city, and so far, the police haven’t been able to quell the chaos. Please pray that God will protect His own in the city center, and ask that through this persecution, the church will thrive and grow stronger. Petition for calm and for the authorities to step in so that children can go to school and parents can go back to their small jobs to help their families survive. We all long for our heavenly home, but until Jesus’ return or He calls us home, we want to be faithfully pressing on to get the most people to join us when Jesus returns. Please pray that believers here will be desperate for Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and ask that we all will continue to be in prayer, seeking guidance in plans, insight into God’s Word, and wisdom for daily decisions and challenges as we continue to be faithful servants.”
