(gwah-dah-lah-HAR-ah) – Guadalajara is one of the largest cities in Mexico and has a population of 5 million. This vibrant city is known for its rich culture and is said to be “the most Mexican city in the world.” However, spiritually speaking, the city is in darkness. Most people practice a folk Catholicism, which brings together different indigenous religious practices and is steeped in the worship of apparitions of Mary. The region around Guadalajara is known by missiologists as the “Circle of Silence” because of its great spiritual need. Even though the gospel came to this region more than a century ago, it’s a place that continues to be resistant to a gospel movement. Of all the major cities in Central and South America, Guadalajara has one of the greatest percentages of lostness: 96.5%. Please pray for the salvation of the people of Guadalajara.
