Ruth and Aaron are a married couple from Asia serving in Africa. Their area of Africa was a key part of the slave trade. Theirs is one of several African nations with monuments like “The Door of No Return” which marked a slave’s final step into the suffering, separation and loss that marked those dark years. Thousands of Africans passed through this place as they were being torn from their homeland. Ruth and Aaron write, “Though slavery has ended, many remain captive – bound by sin. In Luke 4:18, Jesus spoke not only to those in physical chains but to every soul longing for release. “Standing before this monument, we glimpse the reality of the ‘gates of hell’ – a place of separation from God, suffering, and loss. Yet there is hope. Will you join us in prayer, proclaiming freedom for the captives of sin every time you pass through a door or a gate? Let us remember them and stand in the gap for those still bound.” Please pray for Ruth and Aaron as they teach in a technical college. Pray they would have opportunities to meet with students and share the gospel.
