Hindus of the Malabar Coast, India

(MAL-uh-bar) – Many Malayalam-speaking Hindus and tribal groups live along the Malabar Coast in the Indian state of Kerala. With a population of more than 30 million and 73 unengaged, unreached people groups, many people in this area have never had the chance to hear the true gospel. A large number of these people groups are protected as “scheduled tribes” by the Indian government; however, there are three people groups that have the gospel and are growing steadily. Kerala is known for its natural beauty, with a small mountain range hosting a tropical rainforest, a sandy coastline stretching the entire length of the state, and intricate backwaters and river systems that weave throughout the land. The people who live there are warmhearted and hospitable but completely void of a true gospel presence. While even the rocks cry out (Luke 19:40), their mouths remain utterly silent. Please pray for the salvation of the Hindus of the Malabar Coast.
