(joh-HAHN-is-burg) – “In Johannesburg, the prosperity gospel pays the bills,” a local pastor commented. He explained the problem, saying that sometimes even well-trained seminary graduates resort to preaching the prosperity gospel once they are on staff at a church. Preaching the truth can result in hardships of various kinds, but preaching the prosperity gospel can result in increased popularity and success. Please pray against this temptation. Pray that the graduates of Johannesburg Bible College will “take up the whole armor of God, that [they] may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm” (Ephesians 6:13 ESV).
