(kah-RAH-chee) – Near the end of May, Muslims around the world will celebrate Eid al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice. In the city of Karachi, Pakistani Muslim families will gather together to slaughter an animal, eat some of the meat, save some, and give the rest to the poor. In their religion, they believe that Ishmael was the one whom Abraham almost sacrificed instead of Isaac. On Eid al-Adha, they remember this story. Some believe that the yearly killing of an animal is simply a symbol of remembrance, while others believe that it is a sacrifice to pay for their sins. In a city of 20 million people, this many animals being killed on one day makes for a very sobering holiday. Please pray that this holiday will leave those in Karachi who are practicing Islam asking questions and seeking more. Pray for salvation to come to those in the city who are seeking.
