(LIH-bee-un) – Fireworks could be heard and seen for miles in all directions of the city. This was a big, extravagant night for those in attendance. One of the country’s most notable museums — featuring treasures from civilizations in the past — once again opened its doors after being closed for over a decade. It was a celebration of sorts and an opportunity to look to the past to learn about the people who had built and shaped the country. While Libyans are able to view everything from “prehistoric” tools to Roman mosaics to artwork of the current majority religion to mummies of past civilizations that inhabited the area, there is a significant portion of their history that is absent. There is no mention of Simon of Cyrene or any of the early Christians who came from that land and shaped its history. As many will venture to the museum to see the treasures of the past, please pray that their hearts will be stirred to seek out that which is missing. Pray that they will seek the One who is the greatest Treasure of all, Jesus. May their eyes be opened to see the God who loves them and wants to be their Treasure.
