Libyan Arabs of Libya and Northern Africa

(LIH-bee-un) – You can probably spot athletes or farmers or doctors pretty easily when they are dressed in their typical attire. The same can be said for just about anyone. Some type of evaluation will be made based on what you are wearing. For Libyan Arabs, this holds especially true. Their dress is conservative, with women usually having their heads covered, long pants or skirts covering their legs and ankles, as well as long shirts, coats, or sweaters, leaving the least amount of skin showing as possible. When traveling, Libyan Arabs will see all kinds of people in different dress than what they are accustomed to seeing. As they notice the differences in dress and customs, pray that more than difference in attire, they will notice a difference in the love shown by those who believe in Jesus. Ask that they will see the Son when they look at believers and that rather than being put off by what they see, they will be drawn to the Light inside the believers. Also pray for the believers they encounter to share boldly and for the Libyan Arabs to have open hearts. Pray for those who believe to be bold in taking the gospel back home.
