Mappila Muslims of India

(MOP-lah) – Ramadan is a month-long Muslim holiday that is observed with daily fasting, prayer, and reflection to commemorate Muhammad’s first “revelation.” As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, it is central to what Muslim people believe and, therefore, is celebrated by Muslims around the globe. They believe that the fasting, prayer, and reflection will lead to a “spiritual reward,” but there’s no clarity about the forgiveness of their sin. Romans 3:23 (ESV) says that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” reminding us that no amount of prayer or fasting can atone for our sins. And Romans 6:23 (ESV) says that “the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Please pray for the Mappila people to come to know Jesus and accept His free gift of eternal life. Pray that they will no longer be unsure of the forgiveness of their sins, but rather live and worship Jesus with confidence, knowing that He loves them so much that He paid the ultimate price for their salvation.
