A couple of believers were recently invited to their friend Selen’s home for breakfast. They hadn’t seen her in a while, so they spent time catching up on each other’s lives. Selen shared that she had gotten engaged over the New Year’s holiday and plans to be married sometime this summer–such exciting news! A bit later, the conversation turned to her ex-husband, who has made some poor financial decisions recently. She expressed so much bitterness and resentment toward him. The believers began to share the freedom of forgiveness found in Christ by sharing with her some of Jesus’ last words: “Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34 CSB). Her response was quick and a bit frustrated, “Well, I’m not Jesus!” Please lift up Selen, asking that she will experience the forgiveness that Jesus offers and, in turn, become a person who forgives others.
