Mediterranean Turks of Turkey

Recently, on a Saturday evening, Leyla, a 10-year-old Turkish girl, told her believing father that she was “ready to believe.” He was thrilled that she wanted to make her profession of faith at church. When Leyla arrived at church the next day, she ran up to her small group leader and said excitedly, “I am going to believe!” That Sunday’s lesson was about God destroying Jericho’s walls. Afterward, the group discussed how Jesus can destroy the things in our lives that keep us from Him. This was the perfect transition to the gospel. In front of five other elementary school-age children, Leyla boldly proclaimed her faith in Jesus, saying, “He died on the cross for me and rose from the dead three days later.” When asked if she had accepted Jesus as her Lord, she enthusiastically replied, “Yes!” After reading Romans 10 out loud together, the class prayed together. As soon as they said, “Amen,” the whole class jumped to their feet and began clapping to celebrate Leyla’s new life in Christ. Pray for Leyla and the other children in her class. Ask that this next generation of Turkish believers will grow up to follow Christ wholeheartedly.
