“It was a night like any other,” missionary explorer Gabriela Garcia said. “I could hear my neighbors performing their religious rituals. I went over to my window and saw them standing beside their alter, chanting and cutting a live chicken, then sprinkling its blood all around. Saddened by this scene, I went downstairs to spend time with my host family. There, Rosa was studying her Bible–something I have never seen her do before! My ministry partner and I had just started discipling her about two weeks ago. When we had shared the gospel with her, she affirmed that she believed it all but wasn’t sure if she would get into heaven. We had gone back to Scripture with her and talked about who Jesus is. Downstairs in my host home, I thought about the change I have witnessed in Rosa’s life and the evident way God has been at work in her heart. Then my thoughts went back to my neighbors, week by week, performing their religious rituals that have no power to change their sinful hearts. They are stuck in sin and far from the one true God. Then my heart swelled with thankfulness for God’s goodness in the way He washes us from our sins, dwells in us, and loves us with an everlasting love. Pray for Rosa and my neighbors to know and be transformed by His salvation.”
