Muslims of Three States in South India

The Nawaiyat are an unengaged, unreached people group numbering about 58,500 and located in the Uttara and Dakshina Kannada districts of the state of Karnataka, India. They are a Muslim people group who are said to have migrated to India from Arabia in the 13th century. They place a priority on education, and many of them are highly educated, taking jobs in both the business and agricultural sectors, as well as becoming doctors, engineers, and teachers. Please pray that the Nawaiyat people, who practice elaborate four-day ceremonies for their weddings, will one day sing as Isaiah did in Isaiah 61:10 (ESV): “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Pray that they will understand that Christ is that salvation and not place their trust in the Muslim pillars of declaring their faith, prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and going on a pilgrimage.
