The Khakar are a Muslim unengaged, unreached people group numbering about 33,500 and distributed throughout the Belgaum, Dharwad, and Bijapur districts of the state of Karnataka, India. Today, they can be found collecting firewood to sell or serving as cooks, carpenters, drivers, mechanics, masons, or hawkers who sell ice candy and fried groundnuts (peanuts). Please pray that the Khakar, who originally migrated from Afghanistan in the mid 1700s as soldiers hired to serve in a foreign army, will one day serve the Lord Jesus Christ — hearing, believing, boldly proclaiming, and even suffering to tell their own people, as well as others, who He is. “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (2 Timothy 2:1-3 NKJV).
