(ny-ROH-bee) – “On a recent rainy morning, I was teaching English students how to tell stories,” writes a Nairobi City Team member. “When they asked for an example, I took the opportunity to share one of my favorite stories that Jesus taught His followers. ‘There was a father with two sons,’ I began. One of the students interrupted me, saying, ‘Teacher! Teacher, I remember this story!’ I continued, talking about a son who dishonored his father and wasted his inheritance. When the son returned home, he hoped that his father would accept him as a disgraced servant. From a long way off, the father saw his son returning. He ran to him, arms wide open to embrace his child, saying, ‘He was lost, but now is found.’ The students discussed how merciful that father was and how the son didn’t deserve even to be his servant. I told them that the father in that story represents God and the son represents us. Pray that these students, who are a long way off, will see the Father running to them, embracing them, and welcoming them home. Pray that the stories of Jesus will take root in their hearts, not just in their heads.”
