An estimated 168,000 Imazighen Berbers live in the Netherlands. The Berber people are descendants of the pre-Arab inhabitants of North Africa, and many began immigrating to the Netherlands, mostly from Morocco, in the 1940s. They usually follow Islam but sometimes have folk Islamic (animistic) beliefs, as well. Many Imazighen are searching for truth, and they have the freedom to search, question, and follow Jesus in the Netherlands but are not being engaged with the gospel. Pray that the Imazighen of the Netherlands will hear the good news of Jesus. Pray that their spiritual eyes will be opened to behold Christ and His all-sufficient work on the cross. Ask God to lead believers in the Netherlands to reach out to their Imazighen neighbors and overcome cultural barriers to welcome the foreigner in their midst and be a living, breathing embodiment of Jesus in Imazighen’s lives. Ask God to raise up strong believers who will share the gospel, disciple new followers, and start churches among the Imazighen in the Netherlands.
