Northern African and Middle Eastern Unengaged Peoples

The Jalo Berbers live in Libya. In today’s political climate, it is difficult to meet them. They speak the Hassaniyya language. This population of 44,000 call themselves Muslim but continue to follow the ancient beliefs of spirit worship. They consider the spirits of their ancestors to be gods. Holy men are important to them and are deeply respected. “There is none holy like the LORD: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God” (1 Samuel 2:2 ESV). Pray for this respect for holiness to become a bridge to the gospel for the Jalo Berbers. Scripture and a film depicting the life of Jesus are available in Hassaniyya. Pray for softened hearts to gain access to these resources. Pray for the Jalo Berbers to meet believers who can explain the gospel to them.
