Sweaty, tired, and sore, she sat with her team after practice. She’d been praying for an opportunity to share with these other young girls. They were a mix of various religions, all steeped in animism. In this culture, a young girl has an extreme amount of pressure put on her. They’re to marry young and carry the cultural traditions to the next generation. They have little value and are treated poorly. Looking for the right opportunity, she heard screams. A teammate had fallen. She ran with the others to the aid of her teammate. After a while, she found herself in an unusual situation. Her teammate had awakened, and there around her was the entire team. Before she knew it, she was sharing the hope that she had with every girl on that team. Amid that conversation, another teammate spoke out, and a conversation of hope started among the group. God had given her the opportunity that she’d been praying for! Please lift up the young girls of northern Mozambique. Pray for more opportunities to hear the message of hope, and ask they will receive it with all their heart, regardless of the pressure their culture puts on them to do otherwise.
