Nubians of Northern Africa

(NOO-bee-ans) – Aswan is the first major city that Sudanese refugees find after crossing the border from Sudan into Egypt. It is a Nubian city that is rich in history and culture. Annually, many local and international tourists visit ancient sites in the area and learn of Nubian culture. In recent months, the city has been the landing place of thousands of Sudanese refugees. Currently, the Sudanese/Egyptian border is closed and some of the refugees have moved on, but others have stayed. Pray for the refugees to continue to find a welcome in Aswan. Ask for their needs for protection and provision to be met. Pray for believers in the city to reach out in compassion to the refugees, sharing the hope of the gospel with them. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28 ESV).
