(PEH-dee) – The Pedi people are the largest ethnic group in South Africa. They have a unique form of storytelling known as Bothokolo, which is a way of interpreting their history and culture through song, dance, and recitation. The stories often include characters from the past and explore the relationship between the cosmic and human realms. This form of storytelling has been around for centuries and provides a much-needed cultural outlet for Pedi people. Pray that this unique way of storytelling can be adapted to teach the stories of the Bible truthfully so that they may be transmitted more rapidly and “that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored” (2 Thessalonians 3:1 ESV) among them to reach even the remotest villages.
