James, a student at the Bible Institute, is the son of a Pentecostal pastor. He confided in an institute leader, saying that his father led his church in a way that was contrary to the clear teaching of Scripture. James was recently scheduled to preach at the church where his father was leading worship. During James’s sermon, James found his own preparation so antithetical to the Scriptures that he couldn’t stay in the worship service any longer. He ran out sobbing because of the conflict he was feeling. Give thanks to God that James’s view of gospel ministry has been transformed by God’s Word! Please pray for James and others like him as he tries to navigate these conflicts. He has been enrolled in a Diploma in Church Planting program but would prefer to work toward a bachelor’s degree if funding were available. He has the potential to revitalize his home congregation, and his mentors will pastor him toward exploring that prospect. He has also been identified as an excellent candidate to plant a church. Please also pray for the Bible Institute, as this trend causes great displeasure among charismatic and Pentecostal churches in the area.
