People of Southern Taiwan

“This calendar year Easter and Tomb Sweeping Day fall on the same weekend. Two vastly different holidays. One celebrates life while the other is centered on providing for the presumed needs of those who have died. Millions of people in Taiwan will be observing this national holiday contrasted with less than 5% of Taiwan’s population celebrating the resurrection of our risen Lord. Families will gather to worship their ancestors, praying in vain to those who cannot hear, and offering food to those who can no longer partake. Paper money will be burned in hopes that it will reach the spirit world and provide for their loved ones. What a stark contrast that day is to Easter. Please pray that the hearts of Taiwanese families will be open to the truth. May they come to know the One who has defeated death. Pray for our churches and Christian brothers and sisters as they reach out to their communities this Easter season and share the hope we have as we celebrate new life. Pray, too, throughout the month as local believers follow up with those who have heard the gospel but not yet believed. Pray that Christians will boldly, passionately and unashamedly share.”
