(KAH-vuh-ree) – Puthandu, otherwise known as Tamil New Year, falls on April 14 this year. Tamils follow the lunar calendar, so the date changes each year. Tamil Hindus believe that their god, Lord Brahma, began creating the universe on that day. Puthandu is said to be an auspicious, or lucky, day, so people will plan big events or make big decisions on that day. Pray for Tamilians on April 14, asking that they will embrace Proverbs 19:21 (CSB): “Many plans are in a person’s heart, but the LORD’s decree will prevail.”
