A member of a university student team serving in southeastern Madagascar writes: “We arrived in the village after miles of muddy hiking. We learned that nine people wanted to be baptized after attending church in this village for some time. We were so excited to see that the Lord had already been working, long before we arrived! The morning of the baptism, I read John 4:34-38, where Jesus tells His disciples that the fields are ready for harvest — a harvest for which they didn’t labor. I read this while looking out over beautiful mountains and rice fields. Not only were the fields ripe for the harvest, but also the souls of the Tanala (pronounced tah-NAH-lah) people! Our team didn’t sow or labor here; rather, we joined others’ labor and got to share in the joy of the harvest. Teaching the believers about baptism and then baptizing them was an incredible joy. I baptized a young mother whose eyes were filled with the light of Christ and whose life radiated the joy of the Lord. Praise the Lord for the work He is doing here! Ask Him to allow us to continue reaping that for which we didn’t labor, despite all our weaknesses!”
