Peoples of Palawan Island, Philippines

(pah-LAH-wahn) – Please pray for the people of Palawan. Their culture is deeply rooted in folk religion. While they show outward signs of religious activity, they need to realize that faith in Jesus is the key to salvation. The saints and idols they often pray to offer no eternal hope. Palawan is an island within the Philippines archipelago, located to the west. Palawan consists of 1,700 islands; the more remote the island, the harder it is to reach its people with the gospel. The culture is very diverse, with some living city lives and others in tribal communities in bamboo huts and caves. The physical landscape is beautiful, from the clear blue ocean to the top of its central mountain range. Our team is working across multiple languages, including sign language, Tagalog, and tribal dialects, with the goal of fulfilling Revelation 7:9. Our church-planting efforts are focused on discipleship, training leaders, and researching new areas. This makes the region unique and full of future believers.
