Peoples of Rhine, Rühr, Main River Areas, Germany

(RYN, RUE-er) – IMB representatives in Western Europe have been praying for the most gospel-needy areas around them. One of those areas is Franconia, a region in northern Bavaria with a history of a strong Catholic influence and being closed to outsiders. Today, Bavaria is only about 0.19% evangelical Christian. After two days of prayer, IMB representative, Carl Neumann, met a Franconian couple at a small church gathering in Düsseldorf. The Franconian man taught him the saying, “One must thank God for everything, even a Franconian.” The saying has deep roots about the separate, inferior identity of Franconia in relation to the rest of Bavaria. But God has a heart for all peoples, and He desires they all be saved! Pray for the Christians in the area to have a renewed vision and encouragement to reach their neighbors. Pray for the right support to come alongside them for church planting. Ask God to spark a hunger for His Word and that His grace and truth would be made known to all.
