Peoples of Southern Choco, Colombia

(choh-COH) – There are several indigenous groups that originate in the southern Pacific jungles of the department (state) of Choco, Colombia, primarily the Katio (pronounced cah-TEE-oh) of the Alto Andagueda region and the Chami (pronounced chah-ME), both of which are subgroups of the Embera (pronounced em-beh-RAH) people. Due to a long history of violence with armed groups and drug cartels, many from these people groups have been displaced to large cities, where they can be encountered for evangelism and discipleship. Please pray for the salvation of the peoples of southern Choco, Colombia.
