(kay-buh-KWAH) – Quebec is a province in eastern Canada of about 9.1 million people of whom, 80% speak French as their first language. Quebec is a welcoming and active place where people love the outdoors in all seasons. Quebec is rural as well as urban with cities like Montréal, Quebec City, and Sherbrooke. It’s a beautiful province with mountains, rivers, coasts, forests, and plains. The people are friendly and warm, creative and free, artsy, festive, and they appreciate the joie de vie or joy of life. However, after years of being controlled by an oppressive version of the church, the Quebecois (which is what those from Quebec call themselves) broke from church and religion altogether in the 1960’s becoming a proudly secular society, where now in 2025, most have never heard the gospel. Less than 1% of the Quebecois know Jesus as their savior making them among the least reached people groups in North America. In Quebec, the evangelical Christian population is generally low compared to other provinces in Canada, especially in comparison to areas like Ontario or the Prairies. Quebec has a predominantly Catholic background, and evangelical Christianity isn’t as widespread or historically established in the region. Please pray for the salvation of the Quebecois people.
