Saudi Arabia

On February 22, people in Saudi Arabia will celebrate a new holiday, which was started in 2022, to commemorate their national history. This is one of only three nonreligious holidays observed in the country. People dress in traditional clothing and watch fireworks displays and air shows. There are traditional dances, art exhibitions, and camel parades. People have many opportunities to learn about the history of the country they live in, how the modern country was established, and what part their beliefs and religion played in forming it. Many people participate in the celebrations, and they have begun to embrace their national identity. They take pride in living and working in the country. Paul says in Philippians 3:20 (ESV): “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Please pray that the people of Saudi Arabia will realize that their identity needs to be in Christ, and pray that they will have a heavenly citizenship established.
