Swazi of Eswatini

(SWAH-zee) – Entering a village in Eswatini, it is not unusual to find only children present. If you ask, “Where is your mother or grandmother?” the children often stare as though they do not understand. Finally, one responds, “There is no one.” Still not quite understanding, you ask, “There is no one here now?” “No,” a child replies, “there is no one.” Due to the AIDS pandemic, there is an increase in child-headed households in Eswatini. Pray for the many children without adults to care for and feed them and who look to their neighbors for food or help. December 1 is World AIDS Day. Pray that Christians in Eswatini will be burdened to do what they can to care for and provide for orphans in their community with love and compassion. May they do as Jesus said to do: “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14 ESV). Pray for every child in Eswatini to have the opportunity to learn of the love that God has for them.
