Theological Education in Cape Town, South Africa

What can one woman do in a church filled with township children and only one helper? With the start of the seminary school year, a spouses’ disciple-making class began. Initial hesitancy occurred. Within four weeks, four women attended the class and learned how to share the gospel. Sarah, the wife of a seminary student, worked with 40 children several days a week. These children had physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs. Teaching about Jesus without feeding them was difficult. Managing 40 children who were lacking self-control and consideration seemed impossible for her and one other woman. Sarah desired for these children to be saved and to have “a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 ESV). She learned how to share her testimony and to use visual tools to capture and keep the children’s attention. After the second week of class, using the “Two Kingdoms” evangelism tool, Sarah taught the children about the kingdoms of good and evil. Several children hung on every word. Pray that each child will believe in Jesus as their Savior and become a child of God. “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12 ESV).
