Theological Education in Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town Baptist Seminary celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. The Baptists of Cape Town founded it during the apartheid years to train men and women of color. Since then, enrollment has grown to about 90 students this year. The seminary aims to train the heart, head, and hands of students for ministry. The faculty and staff recognize that for people to love God with their heart, soul, mind, and strength (see Mark 12:30), sometimes they need help. Students experience difficulties that can impact them in those areas. These difficulties can affect their worship of God. Because of that, the seminary has ministries to help students. One ministry is prayer advocacy. The seminary seeks to have one prayer advocate per student throughout the student’s seminary career. To date, 35 people have committed to praying for a student. The seminary wants about 60 more. Pray for God to send prayer advocates for this ministry. Please ask God if He wants you to be a prayer advocate. “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 4:2 ESV). (If you are interested in being a prayer advocate, please send an email indicating that.)
