Turks of Istanbul, Turkey

(is-tan-BULL) – Seventy days after the Islamic month of Ramadan, Muslims commemorate the Feast of Sacrifice by sacrificing a cow, sheep, or goat to remember the prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son. As Turks commemorate this sacrifice holiday, please pray that God will open their hearts to recognize the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross. Pray that they will understand that through His sacrificial death, they can find true redemption, forgiveness, and eternal life. May God reveal to them the depth of His love and mercy manifested through Jesus Christ, who willingly laid down His life. Many young adults and university students have distanced themselves from their religious traditions and may not even celebrate this holiday anymore. For many of them, it’s just a week off from work. Please pray that this separation from traditional beliefs will create an opportunity for them to explore Christianity and read the Bible. Pray for Christians to have opportunities to share the gospel with their friends, family, and neighbors during this time.
