Two women sat on a park bench as their children played, one wearing a hijab (head covering) and one wearing a niqab (veil with only the eyes visible). The two friends, Rashida and Soumaya, were soon greeted by another mother at the park who was a believer. The three women spent the next two hours in a spiritual discussion. The believer listened as the two women shared their beliefs with her and tried to convince her to say the Shahada (the Islamic declaration of faith). The believer explained why she couldn’t say that and began to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with her new friends. Rashida poured the believer a glass of mint tea and interjected with opinions of her own. Soumaya lifted her niqab to drink her tea and began quoting the Quran again. Both women rejected the gospel but, after more discussion, shared with the believer that they understood for the first time what it is that Christians really believe. Pray for salvation for these two women and millions like them whose minds the evil one has blinded “to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:4 ESV). He is able!
