While December marks the beginning of the Christmas season for believers in the West, the Orthodox Church in the Horn of Africa celebrates Christmas in January. From December through the beginning of January, there will be opportunities for believers to engage with friends and neighbors. Pray that followers of Jesus will be quick to share the “good news of great joy” that is for “all the people” this Christmas season (Luke 2:10 ESV). Believers across the city plan to host neighbors and friends in their homes for Christmas and New Year’s parties/events. As they host these parties in Urban Rose, pray that they will be faithful to engage with their friends and neighbors about the true meaning of Christmas: the gospel. Pray that friends and community members will have a greater openness to the gospel because of the Christmas holiday.
