Vax People of Southeast Asia

Located in the mountainous regions of Southeast Asia, the Vax people are known for their resilience, hard work ethic, and fierceness. By trade, they work the land, breed water buffalo, and sell drugs. Their government has a strong militant system that has historically held off groups larger than them. The Vax military has both females and males, and children are drafted into the military at a young age. Education amongst Vax children is typically very low due to poverty. When it comes to religion, animism still has a major hold on the people as they center their worship on appeasing the spirits and their ancestors. Over time, many have accepted Buddhism, and a small percentage have become Christians. Of the over 1 million Vax people, less than 5,000 follow Christ. There are still major areas where the Vax reside that have restricted access to the gospel. Due to an oppressive government, several who have come to Christ have also experienced persecution. The Vax people, who live in mountains and hills that receive their rain from the heavens, are people the Lord cares for, who need to know true life and hope, which are only found in Jesus.
