West Africans in Paris, France

“As we look for opportunities to engage West African in Paris, we immediately notice when they board a bus or train that we’re on. It may be their African fabric or clothing that catches our attention or the language they’re speaking while talking on their cell phone. Often, they may be wearing a piece of traditional jewelry that serves as an amulet for protection. They’re concerned about the spirit world and the active role that it plays in their relationships, family affairs, and job success. Even here, there are West Africans who specialize in casting or breaking spells for whoever pays a fee. This spirit world they’re involved in is a very dark one. They’re not aware that Christ is the Light of the world and that He alone has the power to save them. Please pray that those who are trusting in their traditional beliefs will encounter the Holy Spirit and know that truth is found in Christ. Ask the Lord to open their eyes to see the futility of the beliefs they’re following. ‘This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all’ (1 John 1:5 ESV).”
