Take a Tour of IMB.org with IMB President, David Platt

Let me be the first to welcome you to IMB.org. As you can see, it is quite different than it used to be. We are immensely excited about the design and direction, and I am eager to show you a few of the great features on the site.

First, let me reassure you that any important information you previously came here to find is still here. It may have found a new home in a drop-down menu, but it is still around. Prayer requests, updates from the field, information on the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering®–it’s all here and readily available to you.

Simple, Smart Navigation

At the top of every page, you’ll find a navigation bar that includes links labeled “Who We Are,” “What We Do,” “Get Involved,” and “Give.” This is where you’ll find information related to the work of IMB. The specifics of who we are and how we partner with churches to engage unreached peoples and places around the world are found in the first two links. You can find information on the powerful and storied history of IMB, our various teams, the peoples among which we serve, and the services we offer.

The “Get Involved” and “Give” links lead to opportunities for churches and individuals to find a place of service in partnership with IMB. There you will find detailed avenues for prayer, opportunities to go on mission trips or serve long-term through IMB, projects to support directly, and numerous ways to financially support the work of IMB around the world. Information on the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® is there, as well, presented in stunning form.

If you’re here on behalf of a local church, the “For the Church” button may be particularly helpful for you. It’s filled with great information specifically designed for church leaders that will offer direction in regards to partnership with IMB and help you mobilize your people for global missions.

A New Platform for Missions Conversation

The most visible change to the IMB.org design, however, comes in the form of a completely new addition to the site. The larger navigation bar beginning with “Current Events,” constitutes a new venture for IMB. These channels will be home to a constant flow of curated content related to missions–inspiring stories of peoples and places around the world in need of the gospel, helpful and practical training materials for individuals and churches who want to engage them with the gospel, research that fuels those efforts, and articles that challenge and encourage people along the way.

Our desire is to see a growing conversation specifically focused around cross-cultural mission happening every day, and we want IMB.org to host that dialogue. We envision countless people from diverse backgrounds and in different areas of the world–including the breadth of Southern Baptist Churches in unity with other Great Commission Christians–cooperating together and contributing to the exchange of ideas and information. In fact, we’d like to offer you the opportunity to join the conversation, if you are so inclined.

This is a tool that we believe can and will be used in the equipping of an ever-increasing, Christ-exalting, Spirit-filled force of men and women pursuing the nations for the glory of Christ’s name.

This is not simply a website for us. It is a tool that we believe can and will be used in the equipping of an ever-increasing, Christ-exalting, Spirit-filled force of men and women pursuing the nations for the glory of Christ’s name. IMB exists for that reason–to partner with churches to empower limitless missionary teams who are making disciples and multiplying churches among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God. If we want to empower limitless missionary teams, then we must equip the people within our churches for sending. We believe that this site can become a significant factor in accomplishing that goal.

It is indeed our hope that this platform will resound to God’s glory through accessible conversation around global mission that inspires engagement in Great Commission work and catalyzes the movement of limitless missionary teams toward people who have never heard the gospel. This is your invitation to be involved.

There is far more to see on the site than I’ve been able to mention here, so go ahead and explore. Dig around and enjoy it. Watch the videos, share the articles and stories with your friends and family, and be encouraged to find your place in God’s global mission.
